How to reach the editor of Syndication Breakdown, what gets a reply, and how corrections are handled.

What gets a reply

  • Corrections. Anything factually wrong on this site. Include the article and, if you can, the source. Corrections with a citation are acted on quickly and acknowledged.
  • A mechanism I have explained badly. If a passage is confusing, that is useful to know, and it is the most common reason an article gets rewritten.
  • A structure worth covering. A clause, a provision or an arrangement you have run into and could not find explained anywhere. You do not need to send me the document, and please do not send me one you are under an obligation to keep confidential.
  • Press and permissions. Quoting from the site with attribution and a link needs no permission. Republishing an article in full does.

What does not get a reply

  • Requests to review, rate or feature a sponsor, fund or offering. This site does not cover specific deals and does not accept payment from anyone in the industry. The editorial policy explains why.
  • Sponsored posts, link insertions, affiliate proposals and guest articles. All declined, without exception. Emails proposing them are not answered.
  • "What do you think of this deal?" I cannot answer this one, and the reason is not modesty. Telling an individual whether a specific private offering suits them is investment advice, I am not licensed to give it, and I do not know your circumstances. What I can do is point you to the article explaining the provision you are looking at, which is what the whole site is for.
  • Requests for legal or tax advice. Same answer, and please take those to somebody licensed in your state.
